HENK WIEMAN & BELGIAN STRING ORCHESTRA
Composer/pianist Henk Wieman, known from ClassicNL and Klara Radio (Belgium), is back at the Fulcotheater after several years of absence! Accompanied by the Belgian String Orchestra, Henk will play his most beautiful romantic-classical compositions such as “Italian Journey,” “Norwegian”, “Ena”, “Meiying” and “For You”.
The music gains an extra dimension as the award-winning landscape photographer Frans van Hoogstraten’s work is showcased during the concert. His photos blend wonderfully with Henk’s romantic compositions. Let yourself be carried away on a journey through different countries and continents.
Henk Wieman is one of the few musicians in our country who has graduated from the conservatory in both classical and light music. This is clearly reflected in his compositions and makes his music accessible to a broad audience.
In two compositions, Henk will not only be accompanied by the Belgian String Orchestra but also by Anna Zhu on Guzheng. The Guzheng is a traditional Chinese musical instrument; a Chinese harp also known as a Chinese zither. Anna has learned to play the Guzheng to the highest degree.
Furthermore, the well-known accordionist André Vrolijk will be present. André studied classical music at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam. However, he plays many styles on his accordion, such as French chansons, musette, South American, tango, jazzy repertoire, and “Tintje Mokum,” of course with a lot of Amsterdam repertoire. Today he will accompany Henk in several French pieces.
